Are You Mobile?

With the ongoing explosion of smartphones and tablets, it is clear that our computing lives will increasingly revolve around mobile devices. Recent statistics from Forrester indicate there will be 1 billion smartphone customers by 2016, with 257 million smartphones and 126 million tablets in the United States alone.

Even though we’re surrounded by mobile technology, it’s easy to look past the inherent attributes of these devices. Because they’re so easily transported, they play a significant role in our social interactions and have become an indispensable link that puts information immediately at our fingertips.

For businesses, the challenge in connecting with a mobile audience is ensuring that your content is suited for these devices. It’s also making sure your content is easily consumed and readily shared. At its root, content must be engaging in order to hold audience interest. Evaluating how your website content displays on these devices is also an important first step. For most companies, the best solution is to create an entirely new mobile website. By doing so you’ll create a better viewer experience and have a distinct advantage over competitors who haven’t yet created mobile websites.

Keep in mind when creating a mobile site that it’s not just about minimizing the amount of text and enlarging font sizes. It’s about providing viewers richer content experiences that are part of an integrated communications strategy.

Imagine the advantage of a restaurant sharing a variety of videos where viewers hear a chef describe a special recipe or see a steak sizzling on the grill. In other words, seeing a menu might whet your appetite, but seeing a video of the entrée will make you hungry. When customers can interact with your products or services, they are much more likely to engage. They’ll also use their mobile devices to share their experience with their friends.

Now is the right time to enter the rapidly expanding world of mobile devices. At LIGHTGROUP, we’re focused on mobile solutions that provide richer viewer experiences and drive results. Let us know if we can answer any questions, offer further insights or share best practices.
